With the help of its members, The National Coalition For Suicide Prevention, has created community suicide prevention walks that take place across the State of Nevada during National Suicide Prevention Week in September. With credit to the Elko SOS group for the very first “Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope” in 2006, the walk event raises awareness of the problem of suicide in Nevada, offers healing support to survivors of suicide loss, and raises money for communities to support prevention efforts.
Our 7th annual “Walk in Memory, Walk for Hope” (WMWH) grew to 1550 walkers in eight communities throughout Nevada. The 8th annual WMWH took take place on September 13, 2014. Over 990+ walkers in Las Vegas, participated and raised over $10,000.00 for The Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention, which equates to about a 5.1% increase in participation from 2013.
