Join Us -- Become A Volunteer

We are looking for compassionate and caring individuals who want to help us bring a new level of cancer care to Nevada. We have a very diverse team of volunteers from the community, who make significant contributions of time and talent to our mission of making a difference in the lives of people with cancer.

Benefits of Volunteering:

  • Learn new skills
  • Build your own self-confidence
  • Meet people who can improve your talents
  • Create a sense of satisfaction and achievement
  • Meet like-minded volunteers who care about helping people
  • Create unique programs that only volunteers can make possible
  • Make a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer and in the lives of those battling it
  • Obtain valuable experience beneficial in applying for future college programs, scholarships and jobs
Volunteers create an atmosphere of caring by providing comfort and a compassionate ear for those with cancer illnesses. They provide assistance to cancer patients, survivors and family members, to make difficult daily activities a little easier. They assist our team so that the system of care we provide is more efficient, beneficial and helpful. Volunteers also work behind the scenes providing clerical support for our special projects and activities. Volunteers are a precious resource. They bring commitment, compassion, and community to our cancer care ministry. Most donate one half-day per week, or volunteer at special events throughout the year.

The TUFF Cancer Care Mission:

"To assist cancer patients, survivors and their families with the tools and resources that will provide strength, knowledge and guidance with spiritual and compassionate support."

How Do I Become a Volunteer?

To become a volunteer, all you need to do is fill out the volunteer application and fax it to: (702) 568-7760. Applications can also be mailed to: TUFF Services Ministries, Attn: Volunteer Services, P.O. Box 530604, Henderson, NV  89053. All applications are reviewed by the Volunteer Services Department and a representative will contact those selected for an interview. Please bring a valid driver's license or picture ID to the interview, as this is required in order to conduct a background check before being considered for placement (There is NO charge for this service)  Please note: TUFF Services Ministries does not offer court ordered community service hours as part of its volunteer programs. And please be aware the minimum age to volunteer is 18.

Following the interview, if you are selected, you will be required to complete a possible health screening. The screening will consist of a two-step tuberculosis (TB) skin test, possibly a small blood draw, and a flu vaccine during flu season. If you have ever tested positive for TB, you will need to have a physician's statement indicating the results of your most recent chest X-ray. You are encouraged to provide immunization records during the screening if they are available. If you do not have them, please advise us so we can assist you in obtaining copies from your health care provider. The health screenings are mandatory as they provide us with vital health information to best protect cancer patients, our team members and other volunteers from disease. Remember, most cancer patients have a compromised immune system and your basic common cold or cough, could become devastating to their health.

All selected volunteers are required to attend a two-hour Volunteer Orientation before beginning their volunteer assignment. Orientations are scheduled once a month, typically on a Tuesday or Thursday. During peak demand times additional orientations may be scheduled. We ask that all volunteers make a minimum commitment of volunteering a minimum of one half day per week, for a minimum of six months. Volunteers in good standing are encouraged to stay with us and volunteer as long as they like. There is no maximum time limit for the volunteer experience while participating with our cancer care ministry!
